Jimmy Choo was born in 1961 in the Malaysian state of Penang, from a family dedicated to the manufacture of shoes. Choo was in some way destined to continue the family business, from a very young age his talent was noticeable because with only eleven years he made his first shoe, and today is the most important shoe designer in the world.

The plus of Choo’s clothing is that the making of the shoes are made by hand, this aspect certainly sets it apart from the rest of the designers. His beginnings were when he began his studies at Cordwainers’ Technical College located in the city of London, to be able to afford his studies. Choo had several jobs as an innkeeper and in the area of ​​cleaning a factory, product of his effort and dedication he managed to graduate in the year 1983. For 1986 he opened his first workshop in Hackney located in the East of the city of London, a humble office located in a former hospital, from there little by little his incredible designs of women’s shoes made by hand were made known and the prestigious magazine Vogue showed his designs in one of his copies published in 1988.

His shoes were so popular that he had the opportunity to make exclusive designs for Princess Diana of Wales in 1990, which undoubtedly made his image elevate to another level and make it known internationally. In 1996 he co-founded his own brand, Jimmy Choo Ltd. jointly with the editor of Vogue UK magazine Tamara Mellon who did not hesitate a second in the potential of the designer, Tamara proposed to Choo to create this company dedicated to the manufacture of shoes and accessories of luxury that is currently marketed in England and the rest of the world, and as part of the team was also joined by Choo’s niece Choi, as Creative Director, since she was a teenager, she was passionate about the fashion world.  From an early age she began to work with her uncle initially doing secretarial work, answering calls and receiving some clients, and over time Tamara Mellon herself is the one who assigns her the position of Creative Director.

This important firm is known for having a sexy and elite style and has so much prestige that it is one of the favorite brands of celebrities. For the year 2001 Choo decides to sell 50% of its participation in the company, however from this date it remains present making exclusive designs of the Jimmy Choo Couture line that are produced under the company Jimmy Choo Ltd. In its history, Choo currently participating in a project that aims to create a footwear design institute that will inspire young people who have that passion for the footwear, fashion design and shoes.
